Fire Ballista

A fire ballista is a siege weapon introduced in Stronghold: Crusader as a new desert weapon.
It requires 2 engineers to build and 150 gold (so about 210 gold in total).
It is extremely efficient against slow opponents such as swordsmen or other siege weapons (rams, catapults, etc), and not so effective aggainst fast soldiers (horse archers and so on) as it has a slow rate-of-fire, but this setback can be overcome with an increased number of ballistas. Similiar to the tower ballista, it's bolt deals a tremendous amount of damage, taking out a swordsman in two shots.
It fires with greek fire, meaning that it can easily set fire to a whole fortress if it sets ablaze to a building inside it. Some players, before lighting up a castle, usually take care of the wells to be sure nothing will put out the fire.
Some buildings, such as workshops (they have roofs made out of leaves) and stone buildings tend to not spread fire, instead buildings out of wood light up more easily.
Fire ballistas can be used as a efficient castle defense, when placed near the walls to take out any siege machines.
A popular tactic used against computer opponents is a attack with a bunch of fire ballistas.
The best defense against fire ballistas are lookout towers filled with crossbowmen, catapults, or fire ballista (fight fire with fire).
A large force of fire ballistas can be difficult to beat, the main thing that should be done is keeping out their visual range (hiding behind walls, large rocks) and attacking with fast infantry (macemen are good).
