Hunter as seen in Stronghold Crusader HD Manual

A Hunter is a civilian unit that scouts the map to hunt deers. They kill deer with their bow and arrow, carry the corpse back to their post and carve the meat before delivering it to the Granary.

Stronghold Crusader[]

A hunter is available once you have built a Hunter's Post. It's advised to build Hunter's Post near a group of deers so they can easily reach their hunts

As a food source meat is rather unreliable and it's production can vary wildly from better than bread to none whatsoever. As the "source" of meat are live animals they tend to move around the map, especially when one of their kind gets shot. It is also possible for the deer needed for meat can travel to the keep of the enemy and the enemy archers will kill the hunter before he can complete his task.

Trivia[]

  • The bow hunters wield is much like the longbow used by European archers, however it does not need to be produced by a weapon's workshop nor does it incur any kind of resource or gold cost. Hunters will automatically attack enemies nearby, albeit at a slower fire rate than longbowmen. Thus, it can be inferred that hunters have procured their own bow and that all they need is a post to cut the meat before bringing it to your granary.
