The Khan is a character and AI opponent in Stronghold Crusader 2.

Description[]

"The Khan's nomadic lifestyle means he spends as little time as possible on castle construction and none at all on design. Instead the Khan relies on his army to defend his castle. He is also an aggressive attacker, using horse archers to probe the enemy defenses and expose weak spots. Is his bark worse than his bite though?"

Character[]

The Khan is a nomadic warlord, who comes from the steppes of Mongolia. He is completely devoted to horses and open combat and thus spends little time constructing a castle. He entirely relies on mounted mercenaries to do the job for him and likes to conduct frequent raids on castles. The Khan is seen wearing leather armour and a helmet and he is a spirited warrior, valueing his horsemen's swiftness and high morale. Despite his devotion, the Khan is a straight and humble warrior.

Castles and strategies[]

The Khan is an offensive enemy, going light on fortifying his position but heavy on harassment and mounted units.

The Khan's castles contain multiple rings, all of which are surrounded by walling and guard towers and their own gatehouses. Later in the game they are connected with a single layer of wall. The primary ring includes the keep, the mercenary post and several hovels, while usually there is a ring for production facilities and houses each. Arab bowmen and oil pot throwers are stationed frequently on the walls, while Arabian swordsmen and lots of horse archers defend the Khan himself. The Khan produces lots of bread and other food for popularity.

As seen in his description and personality, the Khan's strength lies in initiation. His signature horse archers swarm out from his castle quite often, as well as he sends small slave groups backed by slave drivers to incinerate enemy buildings. The Khan is ususally more stronger with his harassment than his siege camp attacks, which contain a small number of Arab bowmen, Arabian swordsmen, mantlets and catapults. These attacks however get strengthened by some Sassanid knights in the late-game.
