The Cage is a defensive structure.

Description[]

Cages house hungry predators that are trained to let their fury loose once released, attacking nearby people. These ferocious animals are quite capable in melee combat, downing most units quickly.

Depending on game, the inhabitants of cages will or will not attack friends.

Information[]

Back in earlier ages, torturing animals and putting them on the edge could make them fight much more effectively than those under control. These bewildered and ferocious creatures were mainly used for entertainment, unleashed against each other in a confined space in a sort of gladiator tournament. Most specimen were purposefully kept hungry and stressed in a controlled environment, such as a confined cage.

Such wild animals could also be used for defensive purposes, mostly as a last resort in a cramped space. Lions, dogs and other agile species were very effective at charging down the first target they saw, inflicting additional casualties in enemy ranks. Sadly, these animals remained highly unpredictable until their fervor went away, stirring chaos in their close vicinity.

Today, torturing animals is considered a highly unethical practice. Despite, bull fighting lives on as tradition in Spain.

The dog cage houses four war dogs that are let loose once a sufficient enemy force approaches them, attacking them without relent. Dogs are frail, but potent in melee combat. Once the threat is dealt with, the dogs return to their cage. Dogs do not harm friendlies. When all dogs are killed, the cage is removed.

The cage trigger is based on the default aggressive stance trigger, i.e. the dogs will not attack when only a handful of lesser troops arrive, making a defenseless cage vulnerable to attacks.

There is a maximum limit of ten dog cages.

The dog cage houses four war dogs that are automatically let loose once an enemy approaches them, attacking them without relent. Dogs are relatively bulky and potent in melee combat, attacking anything they encounter, provoking response from even friendly ranged troops. Dogs return to their cages once they do not find additional targets. When all dogs are killed, the cage is removed.

The tiger cage houses a hungry tiger that are automatically let loose once an enemy approaches them, attacking them without relent. Tigers are relatively bulky and potent in melee combat, attacking anything they encounter, provoking response from even friendly ranged troops. They can also pounce on a target, causing very high contact damage, making them extremely dangerous to face. Tigers may return to their cages once they do not find additional targets. When all of them are killed, the cage is removed.
